A simpler answer
Checked at band 6.5 · 181 wordsI'd like my country to introduce a law that reduces the use of disposable plastic food packaging. Under this law, shops and restaurants would not be allowed to give customers plastic bags, cups or boxes automatically. They could still offer them, but customers would have to pay a small fee.
It would affect takeaway shops, supermarkets and people who buy food on the way home. Businesses would need to use paper or reusable containers, and customers would have to bring their own bags more often. The government could check shops and give a warning or fine if they ignored the rule.
There might be some difficulties. Paper packaging can cost more, and small businesses may not be able to change quickly. Some customers might also forget to bring a bag and feel annoyed. It could be hard for officials to check every shop, too.
I think this law is needed because a lot of plastic is used for only a few minutes and then thrown away. If people had fewer plastic items, there would be less rubbish in streets and rivers.
