Timing

11 questions, timed like the real section

ETS gives 8 to 12 seconds to repeat each sentence and 45 seconds for each interview answer. Our mock test uses 8, 8, 10, 10, 10, 12, 12 seconds for the 7 sentences, longer as the sentences get longer. The bars are drawn to scale.

After the test

What the report looks like

An estimated band with a range, for example 4.0–4.5. ETS has not published how the 11 raw scores become a 1–6 band, so we do not show a single exact number. The report below uses sample data.

The one thing to fix first

Dropping small words. 6 of 7 sentences lost a the, to or has, so none of them reached 5.

All 11 answers, scored 0–5
Listen and Repeat · sentence 5 · 3 points

Students who want to join the hiking club should sign up at the front desk on by Friday.

word in the sentence, not in your answerword what you said instead

Two missing “the”, and “by” became “on”: “before Friday” turned into “on Friday”. The meaning changed, so it’s a 3, not a 4.

Take an Interview · question 3 · 3 points

Some people say universities shouldn’t schedule classes before 9 a.m. Do you agree?

Development
Only one reason and no example. One story about your own early class fills the 45 seconds.
Fluency
4 pauses longer than 2 seconds, all while thinking of the next sentence.
Language
more easier easier; I am agree I agree
Copying
The first sentence repeated the question word for word. The rubric lists that under a 2.

Each interview answer comes with two model answers, at about a 4 and about a 5.5, and a button to answer it again.
