Can you describe a day when you completed work or a group project from home and explain what made the arrangement easy or difficult?

82 词

I worked from home for part of my summer internship. One day, I had to prepare a small customer survey summary. I enjoyed not travelling to the office, but I found it difficult to ask quick questions. I sent several messages and waited while my supervisor was in meetings. Later, we agreed to have a short call every morning. That helped me understand the main task before starting. I learned that working at home still needs clear communication, even for simple assignments.

  • while my supervisor was in meetings · 说主管正在开会,解释自己为什么得等回复

During my summer internship, I spent one day at home preparing a summary of customer survey responses. I saved travel time but struggled with an unclear category. In the office, I could have asked a quick question. At home, I sent a message and waited while my supervisor moved between meetings, then did some work I later had to redo. We solved it by agreeing on a short morning call and keeping a shared list of questions. A quiet room and a laptop were useful, but clear expectations and predictable chances to speak mattered more than I had expected.

  • some work I later had to redo · 说后来有些活得重做,沟通延迟的影响更清楚

If you could choose for a future office job, would you prefer working from home most days or going to a shared workplace most days?

83 词

I would prefer going to a workplace most days, especially at the beginning of my career. I learn a lot by hearing how other people solve problems. During my internship, a colleague showed me a spreadsheet shortcut because she noticed me repeating the same steps. I might not have known to ask about it from home. I would still like an occasional home day for quiet tasks. But for learning the job and getting to know people, the office would suit me better.

  • especially at the beginning of my career · 限定在刚工作时,偏好和自己的阶段有关
  • might not have known to ask · 说有些问题自己都没想到,解释在场学到什么

102 词

Early in my career, I'd prefer being in a shared workplace most days. During an internship, a colleague noticed me doing a repetitive spreadsheet task and showed me a shortcut I didn't know existed. That kind of help would have been less likely if we'd only exchanged messages about finished work. I also like a physical boundary between work and the rest of the day. Later, once I understood the role and had stronger relationships, I'd probably want more time at home for concentrated tasks. For now, being around experienced people would outweigh the convenience of avoiding the commute on most mornings.

  • a physical boundary between work and the rest of the day · 说办公室把工作和生活分开,解释作息为何更清楚
  • would outweigh the convenience · 用 outweigh 说这项好处比方便更重要

Some managers say employees working from home must be less productive because nobody can see them working. What do you think of that claim?

83 词

I disagree because seeing someone at a desk does not tell us how much useful work they finish. During my internship, I completed some writing faster at home because the room was quiet. Other tasks were harder because I needed help from colleagues. I think managers should look at the quality of the work and whether people meet reasonable deadlines. They should also ask about problems. Watching a screen all day is not the same as understanding how well a person is doing.

  • whether people meet reasonable deadlines · 说看能否按合理期限完成,给出实际评价办法
  • not the same as · 区分盯着人和了解表现,说明监控未必管用

102 词

I don't think visibility is a reliable measure of useful work. Someone can sit in an office all afternoon without making much progress, while another person may finish a difficult task quietly at home. During my internship, writing was often easier remotely, but tasks involving uncertain instructions were slower because I needed input from colleagues. That suggests the arrangement and the task matter more than simple location. Constantly checking whether a person appears online could encourage them to look busy rather than do better work. I would judge the results and the cooperation, while also checking that the workload itself is reasonable.

  • look busy rather than do better work · 对比看起来忙和干得好,解释监控可能有什么问题

Should companies allow new employees to work remotely from the start, or should they require an initial period in the office for training?

80 词

I think a short office period would help many new employees, but it should depend on the job. When I began my internship, I needed to learn the software and understand who could answer different questions. Meeting people in person made that easier. However, some workers live far away or join teams that are already remote. The company should have a clear training plan in either case. I would support flexibility after checking what the new person needs to learn.

I'd decide based on training needs, rather than impose one rule. During my internship, office time let me observe routines and meet colleagues. But if a team already works across different locations, traveling to one office may not provide that benefit. The company needs a proper introduction plan either way: clear tasks, a named colleague for questions, and regular chances to check understanding. I'd favor contact where it adds value, with flexibility for personal circumstances. Requiring attendance without arranging useful training would only create the appearance of support, not the experience a new employee actually needs.

  • where it adds value · 说当面见面要有实际帮助,没要求一律到场
