I’d like to talk about a small shoe shop near my home. I went there last autumn, on a Saturday afternoon. I needed a pair of comfortable shoes for walking to work because my old ones were worn out. I wasn’t sure which pair to choose, so I asked a staff member for help.

She listened to me and asked how far I usually walked each day. Then she showed me a few pairs in my size. She let me try them on and walk around the shop. One pair felt a little tight, so she brought me a larger size. She also explained the price and how to clean them. I chose a simple black pair and paid at the counter.

I think it was good service because the staff member was patient and helpful. She didn’t rush me or try to make me buy the most expensive pair. I left feeling happy with my choice, and the shoes were comfortable for a long time.

  • Give a reason · “because my old ones were worn out”

Honestly, one time that stands out was at a small shoe shop near my home. I went there last autumn, on a Saturday afternoon, after noticing that my old work shoes had become uncomfortable. I was looking for a reasonably priced pair that I could wear for a lot of walking, rather than something fashionable. I wasn’t sure what would suit me, so I asked one of the staff for advice.

She didn’t immediately point me towards the most expensive shoes. Instead, she asked how far I walked each day and whether I was on my feet at work. Based on that, she brought out three pairs in my size and explained the difference in the soles. She gave me time to try them on and encouraged me to walk around the shop to see how they felt. The first pair pinched slightly, which I hadn’t noticed while sitting down, so she found the same style in a larger size. She also told me how to clean the material and pointed out the returns period without making it sound like a sales pitch.

I bought a simple black pair. They were comfortable from the first week and lasted well, so I felt I’d made the right choice. What made the service good wasn’t anything dramatic; it was that she listened, gave practical advice and let me decide for myself. If she’d rushed me, I probably would’ve bought the wrong size. I left feeling looked after rather than pressured.

  • Action plus detail · “Based on that, she brought out three pairs”
