Can you describe a time when you used an AI tool while studying and tell me what was useful or disappointing about the result?

84 词

I used an AI tool to help me review a statistics topic last month. I asked it to explain the idea with a small example because my lecture notes felt too difficult. The explanation helped me start, but one calculation did not match the method in our textbook. I checked it with a classmate and found the mistake. After that, I used the tool to make practice questions rather than trusting every answer. It was useful, but I still needed to check the work.

  • did not match the method · 用 match 说答案和教材方法对不上

I tried AI for a statistics concept before a tutorial. I asked for a small numerical example, and its explanation clarified the method. Then I noticed that one calculation didn't match the result in my textbook. A classmate and I checked the steps and found where the answer had gone wrong. The experience was useful but disappointing. The tool lowered the barrier to starting, but the confident wording made the error easy to overlook. Now I use it to generate questions or alternative explanations, while checking important steps against course materials before I rely on them in my own work.

  • lowered the barrier to starting · 用 barrier 说难题变得敢动手了
  • checking important steps against course materials · 用 against 说要对着课件查步骤
4 分说工具“helped me start”。5.5 分说它“lowered the barrier to starting”,说得更准。

When you are stuck on an assignment, would you prefer asking an AI tool for immediate help or waiting to speak with a tutor who knows your course?

82 词

I would prefer waiting for my tutor if the problem affects the main idea of the assignment. An AI tool can answer quickly, but it may not understand what our course expects. I once received a clear explanation that used a method we had not studied. My tutor could explain the same issue using our lecture examples. For a small vocabulary question, I might use AI first. For the direction of an important task, I trust someone who knows the class better.

  • if the problem affects the main idea · 说明涉及核心思路时会等导师解答
  • using our lecture examples · 拿课上的例子说明导师更懂这门课

105 词

For an important assignment question, I'd wait for a tutor who understands the course. An immediate answer is unhelpful if it sends me down a route that doesn't fit the task. I once asked an AI tool about a statistics problem and received a plausible explanation using a method we hadn't covered. My tutor used a lecture example to clarify the approach. I might still use AI while waiting to organize my questions or identify what I don't understand. But I'd separate help with getting started from guidance I intend to rely on. The more important the decision, the more I value relevant human context.

  • sends me down a route · 用 route 比喻错误答案会让人走弯路
  • separate help with getting started from guidance · 分开说入门帮助和关键思路该找谁
5.5 分用“The more important the decision”收成一条规律。
用词
4 分说“a clear explanation”。

Some students argue that using AI to produce a first draft stops people from developing their own thinking. How far do you agree?

85 词

I partly agree because starting with a complete draft can make it difficult to choose my own structure. I may spend time changing the wording instead of deciding what I want to say. However, I do not think every use has that result. Comparing a draft with my own outline could help me notice missing ideas. I would write my main points first and follow the course rules. For me, the important question is whether I am still making the choices and understanding the result.

  • instead of deciding what I want to say · 指出只改措辞可能省掉自己想观点这一步
  • whether I am still making the choices · 用 choices 看决定是不是自己做的

102 词

I think that risk is real, particularly when the learner hasn't decided what they want to argue. A polished draft gives you a structure before you've done the difficult work of choosing one, and it's easy to spend the next hour editing sentences inside that structure. I've noticed that even a sample introduction can pull my ideas in its direction. Still, the effect depends on how the tool is used and what the course allows. I'd want my own reasoning to come first, and I'd check that I could explain every part of the final work without leaning on the tool's wording.

  • pull my ideas in its direction · 用 pull 说现成草稿会带偏自己的想法
  • my own reasoning to come first · 用 first 强调先想好自己的理由

Should universities require students to explain how they used AI tools in assessed work, rather than either banning the tools completely or allowing unrestricted use?

85 词

I think a short explanation is a sensible approach. Students may use AI for very different tasks, such as checking grammar or generating a whole answer. A simple note could help the teacher understand what happened. The university should give examples of allowed uses and explain the rules before the assignment begins. I would not want a long technical report for every piece of work. The aim should be honest communication and real learning, not making students afraid to ask whether a tool is allowed.

  • such as checking grammar or generating a whole answer · 拿改语法和生成整篇作对比,解释为何要说明用途
  • before the assignment begins · 提醒规则要在布置作业前讲清楚

99 词

I'd support a brief disclosure requirement, together with clear rules for each assignment. A blanket ban can be difficult to interpret, while unrestricted use leaves students unsure which skills they are expected to demonstrate themselves. A note saying what tool was used, for which task, and how the output was checked would make the process more visible. It shouldn't require students to share private conversations or produce pages of technical detail. For me, the goal is to make responsibility clear: students should understand, verify, and be able to explain the work they submit, regardless of what assistance they received.

  • for which task, and how the output was checked · 列出要说明的两件事:用途和检查方法
  • be able to explain the work they submit · 要求学生能讲清自己交上去的内容
