The person I want to talk about is my cousin, Lin. She is 29 and works in an office. I know her well because we grew up in the same neighbourhood and often meet at family dinners. She has liked taking photos for several years.

She likes to photograph everyday things, especially food, flowers, and streets in our city. When we go out for lunch, she often takes pictures of the dishes before we eat. She also takes photos of old buildings and small shops when she walks around. She uses her phone, so she can take pictures quickly.

She usually shares her photos on her social media page or sends them to our family group chat. Sometimes she prints a few and puts them in a small album. I think she enjoys taking photos because it helps her remember happy moments. She also likes showing other people the nice things she sees. For her, photography is a fun hobby and a way to keep memories.

  • Give a reason · “because it helps her remember happy moments”
  • Give a specific example · “takes pictures of the dishes”

Honestly, the person who comes to mind is my cousin Lin, who’s 29 and works in an office. We grew up in the same neighbourhood, so I’ve known her all my life, and I still see her regularly at family dinners. She started taking photos seriously a few years ago, although she doesn’t own an expensive camera; she mostly uses her phone.

She has a real eye for ordinary details. She especially likes photographing food, flowers and streets around our city. If we go out for lunch, she’ll take a quick picture of the dishes before anyone touches them, but she doesn’t just photograph pretty things. On walks, she notices old shop signs, balconies and patches of sunlight that most of us would pass without thinking. She says those small details give a place its character.

She usually shares the pictures on her social media page, with a short caption about where she took them. She also sends some to our family group chat, especially photos from meals or outings, so everyone who couldn’t come can still feel included. Every now and then, she prints a few favourites and keeps them in a small album.

I think she enjoys it because taking photos makes her slow down and pay attention, rather than just rushing through the day. It also gives her a way to hold on to happy moments and show other people what she finds beautiful. When she looks back through the album, she can remember the people and feelings behind each picture, not just the place. For her, it’s a relaxing hobby and a simple way of keeping memories alive.

  • Precise phrasing · “a real eye for ordinary details”
  • Specific detail · “before anyone touches them”
  • Explain the significance · “those small details give a place its character”
  • Develop the reason · “makes her slow down and pay attention”
  • Add a deeper detail · “the people and feelings behind each picture”
