Describe the kind of music you choose for a quiet evening. What do you hear in it, and how does it suit that time of day?
When I want a quiet evening, I usually choose slower songs with a clear melody, gentle vocals, and some piano. The words don't have to be sad. I just don't want a heavy beat when I'm trying to relax. There is one playlist I often use while making dinner. Some songs have a little guitar in the background. I can hear the instruments separately, which I enjoy. The music fills the room without demanding all my attention. It makes cooking alone feel less lonely, especially when I have had a long day at work. I tend to avoid songs that suddenly become much louder, because I keep adjusting the volume instead of enjoying them. A fairly even sound works better when I'm moving between the kitchen and the table and only listening with part of my attention.
