Describe what makes your home feel like a place for a holiday rather than a normal workday. Which details change the atmosphere?
When I'm taking time off at home, I clear the living-room table and put my work laptop in a drawer. Then I bring out a small speaker and some books I haven't started. I open the curtains fully instead of sitting at my desk with the light on. The apartment itself doesn't change much, but the empty table makes a difference. I can eat breakfast slowly without seeing work papers. I also buy a few things I don't usually have, like fresh bread and good fruit. Those small details help the day feel separate from my normal routine. The most important change is removing reminders of unfinished work, because otherwise I keep thinking I could answer just one message. Putting the laptop out of sight gives me a clearer boundary than simply telling myself that I shouldn't use it during the holiday.
